FAQ
These are the most frequently asked questions we get on a daily basis. Hopefully they are helpful. If you have any other questions or problems, your phone call is always welcome. Remember, we are here for you, and have been since 1973.

Q: The motor on my garage door opener sounds like it is running, but nothing is moving. What could be the problem?
A: If you have a Sears Craftsman, Chamberlain, or Liftmaster, the gears on the inside of the motorhead may be worn out or stripped. If you have a Genie Screw Drive opener, the carriage may be worn out or stripped. D-J's Garage Door Place sells parts over the counter, but you could also have one of our experienced technicians come out and do a complete service of your door and opener while also replacing your gears.
Q: None of my remotes will close the door, only open it. I have to hold the wall button down to get the door opener to close. How can I get the door opener to properly work?
A: There are safety sensors on both sides of the door. You should first check to see if they are dirty, there is something blocking them, or they have been bumped out of line. If that is not the problem, then they may need to be replaced. D-J's Garage Door Place sells parts over the counter, but you could also have one of our experienced technicians come out and do a complete service of your door and opener while also replacing your sensors.

Q: I was putting my door down and it went crazy. One side is a foot higher than the other and it will not budge. What in the world happened to my door?
A: The cable on your door either came off the drum (pulley) or it may have even broken. DO NOT try to move the door. DO NOT try taking off any brackets. Doing so could result in further DAMAGE to the door and SEVERE injury to yourself. Call D-J's Garage Door Place and we will send an experienced technician out to get you all fixed up!
